Whats the best source of energy when ski touring?

My top energy sources:
Malt Loaf: my personal favourite and always popular when handed around. fruity, chewy and about 80% carb
Dried dates: stick it in the corner of your mouth and chew away whilst putting in the miles.
Bananas: a great natural carbo source, but tend to go mushy after a big fall!!
Energy Gels: taste very sweet [...]

I had to share this image. Just incredible views over the fjords. Apparently whales can often be seen in this area as they cruise the protected waters around here in order to mate.

Well known guide killed in French Alps
