We have just returned from this years Extreme Week.
For the second time we returned to the same resort for the second year running. The last time we did this was when we went back to Gressoney in 2005 having had a great time there the previous year.
This year the return was driven by the desire to ski the Schwartztor again. In 2007 when we arrived the snow conditions in resort were ok but windblown higher up. Zermatt is a high resort so this is to be expected. Anyway, we managed to fresh tracks in 2007 after a 2 hour skin around the back of the klein materhorn in terrible conditions. Wind chill of about -20 and low cloud. But boy was it worth it!! See last years report Zermatt 2007
So we stayed at the Hotel Alex in the centre of Zermatt. Quite a place. A tad eclectic to say the least but very comfortable and wonderful meals in the evening.
